History and Context:
The People Project was founded in 2008 as an active response
to the systemic oppression and gaps we identified through lived experience and
in close consultation with our Spectrum communities. We wanted to self-direct
actions that addressed social and political barriers affecting Spectrum youth
in Toronto and beyond. All of the work that we currently do has been seated in
this knowledge and has been developed and implemented strategically to respond
in ways that are holistic, sustainable and guided by principles of integrity,
accountability, equity and love.
We are a unique organization providing programs, trainings and consultations for spectrum youth and allies that are developed and led by spectrum youth. Our work is based upon the belief that with critical thinking, creativity, conscious actions and cooperation we can effect resounding and meaningful change in our lives and communities.
